Rewrite this in plain language
Same meaning, half the words, no corporate filler.
Anything you wrote that sounds like a company instead of a person.editingclarityplain language
Rewrite my text in plain language without losing meaning. The text: <paste> Who will read it: <audience and how much they already know> What they must take away: <the one thing> Terms I must keep, even if technical: <list, or "none"> Do this: 1. Rewrite it: shorter sentences, active voice, concrete nouns, one idea per paragraph. Aim for at least 30% fewer words. Keep my meaning and my terms. 2. Show a table of what you cut or changed and why: filler, hedging, jargon, repetition, passive voice, abstract nouns. Quote the original phrase and the replacement. 3. Flag any sentence where cutting words changed the meaning, so I can decide. 4. Point out the three habits in my writing that added the most words, so I can catch them myself next time. 5. One-line version: the whole text as a single sentence, for a subject line or a summary. Do not add new claims, examples or flourishes. Plainer, not different.
Replace every <placeholder> with your own details before you send it.
How to use it
- 1Paste the whole text, including the parts you're attached to. Those are usually the problem.
- 2Read the 'what I cut and why' list. It teaches you to write the plain version first next time.
- 3Keep any technical terms your reader needs. Ask it to flag rather than remove them.
