End-of-day shutdown in three minutes
Close the loops, park the worries, and know what tomorrow starts with.
Anyone who keeps working in their head after they stop working.routineproductivityfocus
Run my end-of-day shutdown with me. Keep it under three minutes of reading. What I did today: <quick list> What's unfinished: <list> What's nagging me: <worries, loose ends, things I might have forgotten> Tomorrow's fixed commitments: <meetings, deadlines> Produce: 1. Done: my list, as one clean line each, so I can see the day was real. 2. Parked: each unfinished item with one line on its next concrete step and where it now lives (calendar, list, someone else). Nothing stays in my head. 3. Worries, sorted: what needs an action tomorrow, what needs nothing, and what I can't control. One line each. 4. Tomorrow starts with: one task, small enough to start in two minutes, and why that one. 5. A one-sentence closing line I can say to myself that is honest, not cheerful. No praise, no pep talk. Just closure.
Replace every <placeholder> with your own details before you send it.
How to use it
- 1Paste the actual state of your day, not a tidy version. The point is to get it out of your head.
- 2Do it at the same time daily. The ritual is the product.
- 3Tomorrow's first task should be small enough to start in two minutes.
