Enough of a language for your trip, in four weeks
Not fluency. The 150 phrases you'll actually use, in the order you'll need them.
A trip in a month to somewhere you don't speak the language.languagetravellearning
Teach me enough of a language for a trip, in four weeks of short daily practice. You are a practical language coach; no grammar for its own sake. Language: <language> The trip: <where, how long, what I'll be doing: eating out, transport, shopping, meeting people, medical needs> My level: <zero / a few words / some basics> Minutes per day: <number> Languages I already speak: <so you can point out what's familiar> Produce: 1. Week-by-week themes, ordered by how soon I'll need each on the trip. 2. For each week: 35–40 phrases, each with the phrase, a simple pronunciation guide in my alphabet, the meaning, and when I'd say it. Include the answers I'm likely to hear back. 3. The 10 phrases that cover 80% of situations, to learn first and repeat every day. 4. Politeness essentials: greetings, please, thank you, sorry, and what's culturally expected, marked [verify] if it varies by region. 5. A daily 10-minute routine: what to do each day with the phrases, out loud. 6. Three "rescue" phrases for when I don't understand, and how to ask someone to speak slowly. 7. What to deliberately skip for this trip. Keep it spoken, not written. Skip anything I won't say out loud on the trip.

How to use it
- 1Describe your trip. Ordering food and asking directions matters more than conjugations.
- 2Ask for the phrases with a simple pronunciation guide in your own alphabet.
- 3Practise out loud, daily, ten minutes. Reading phrases is not learning them.
