Interview prep: your stories, mapped to their questions
Six real stories, each ready for the five ways they'll ask about it.
The week before any interview, technical or not.interviewsjob searchpreparation
Prepare me for an interview using my real experiences. The role and company: <title, what they do, paste the job ad> Six real situations from my work or projects, told plainly (what happened, what I did, what resulted, what I'd do differently): <paste> What worries me about this interview: <honest> Interview format, if known: <behavioural / technical / case / panel> Produce: 1. For each story: a title, a 90-second version in a clear structure (situation, what I did, result, what I learned), and the three interview questions it best answers. Cut anything that isn't mine or isn't true. 2. A map: the 12 most likely questions for this role, based on the job ad, each pointing to the story to use. 3. Gaps: questions the ad implies that none of my stories cover, and what honest answer I can give (including "I haven't done that, here's the closest thing"). 4. My worry, addressed: what to say if it comes up, in two sentences. 5. Five questions I should ask them, specific to what the ad says. 6. The one thing to remember when I walk in, one line. No scripts to memorise. Structures and prompts to think with.
Replace every <placeholder> with your own details before you send it.
How to use it
- 1Write the stories as they happened, including the messy parts. The model structures them; the truth is what makes them land.
- 2Practise saying each story out loud in under 90 seconds.
- 3Paste the job ad. The mapping to likely questions is where the value is.
