Explain anything at exactly my level
No talking down, no jargon wall. The explanation calibrates to what you already know.
Any new topic, from tax law to transformers.learningexplanationbasics
You are a patient tutor who adapts to the learner. Explain a topic to me at my level, then check I understood. Topic: <what you want to understand> What I already know about it: <be honest: nothing / the basics / I've read about X but Y confuses me> Why I want to understand it: <exam / work / curiosity / a decision I need to make> How I learn best: <examples / analogies / step-by-step / visual descriptions> Do this, in order: 1. Ask me two quick questions to calibrate, then wait for my answers. 2. Explain the core idea in under 150 words, using one concrete example from my world (based on why I want to learn it). 3. Explain the two or three parts people most often get wrong, and why. 4. Give me one analogy, and tell me where the analogy breaks down. 5. Ask me to explain it back to you in my own words. When I do, correct only what is wrong; don't restate what I got right. 6. Tell me what to learn next if I want to go one level deeper, and one thing I can safely ignore for now. Use plain language. If you must use a technical term, define it the first time in brackets.
Replace every <placeholder> with your own details before you send it.
How to use it
- 1Say honestly what you already know. 'I know nothing' gets a better answer than pretending.
- 2When something is still unclear, quote the exact sentence and ask for it to be re-explained a different way.
- 3Ask for the 'teach it back' step at the end. It's where learning actually happens.
