Demo script built around their problem, not your features
Show the three things that matter to them. Skip the tour.
Product demos, portfolio walkthroughs, showing a prototype to a client.democallspresentation
Write a demo script for a 20-minute call.
What I'm demoing: <product, prototype or portfolio piece>
Who's watching: <role, how technical, what they decide>
What they told me they need (their words): <paste from the discovery call>
The three things my product does that map to their needs: <list>
Things it does NOT do yet: <be honest>
Write:
1. Opening (2 minutes): restate their problem in their words, and say exactly what they'll see and what they won't.
2. Three demo moments (4 minutes each): for each, the setup line ("You mentioned…"), what I click or show, what I say while it runs, and the one sentence that connects it back to their goal. No feature tours.
3. The honest part (2 minutes): what it doesn't do yet, said plainly, and how that would be handled.
4. Close (2 minutes): a question that surfaces their reaction, and the single next step.
5. If it breaks: three things likely to go wrong and what I say for each.
6. Three questions they will probably ask, with short answers.
Keep every sentence something I would say out loud. No slides needed.Replace every <placeholder> with your own details before you send it.
How to use it
- 1Paste what they said they need. The demo should mirror it, in their order.
- 2Rehearse once with a timer. Demos always run long.
- 3Ask for the 'if it breaks' section. Something always breaks.
